Abstract

Elderly will experience decreased metabolic activity in the brain causing dementia. The purpose of this community service activity was to improve cognitive function of elderly by doing therapy modalities Life Review using Snakes Ladders Game. This therapy is given because it is able to help the elderly remember the past events and cognitive abilities can be improved. Method of activity in the form of community education, conducted in September-October 2017 to 44 elderly in Posyandu Lansia Cendrawasih Puskesmas Balongsari Surabaya. There are four program activities that are implemented, such as education about dementia in elderly community devotion and its prevention, MMSE measurement (Mini Mental State Exam), measurement result of change of cognitive function of elderly and mentoring. Outputs measured by program implementation achievement are the changes of cognitive function in the elderly before and after the implementation of life review therapy and how the elderly ability in doing life review therapy. Assistance and guidance of life review therapy continuously for this therapy to be a scheduled activity in Posyandu elderly.
