Abstract

ABSTRACT ASI (mother’s milk) is a nutritious food containing anti infection substance beneficial in helping baby against infections and diseases. In ASI on the first day contain colostrum (a yellowish, thicker liquid). In reality, ASI secreted by the post childbirth mother is still relatively few in amount, thus mother rarely give suck her baby and the baby no get sufficient ASI. Then, the purpose of this research was by performing the breast treatment as early as possible after gave birth can smooth blood circulation and prevent the clogged up of milk tract thus smoothing ASI secretion. Design of this research was the Quasi-Experimental Design (Non Equivalent Control Group Design). Population used was as many as 32 respondents, while samples were taken used he Simple Random sampling as many as 30 respondents namely 15 respondents on the treatment group and 15 respondents on the control group in the E2 room of the Dr. RAMELAN Navy Hospital of Surabaya on May - June. Variabel in this research mother’s ASI secretion post childbirth by weighing baby weight before and after giving suck which after that expressed in ml, and by squeezing ASI. Data of this research used questionnaire and baby scales. Data gathering in this research used questionnaire and baby scales. Data analysis techniques used were the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test and the Mann-Whitney U test. The research result indicated that ASI secretions from 15 respondents of the treatment group whose, based on the ASI assessment sheet, ASI secretion smooth were as many as 2 persons (13.3%) and 8 persons (86.7%) of them with non-smooth ASI secretion. The result obtained indicated that ASI secretion with the breast treatment implementation on the post childbirth mothers proven by the statistical test result of the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test indicated that p = 0.008 <  = 0.05 before and after on the treatment group and the Mann-Whitney U test indicated that p = 0.0112 <  = 0.05 on the treatment group after and the control group after. Viewing the result of this research then it needed the optimization of breast treatment implementation on the post childbirth mothers as early as possible to increase ASI secretion olahraga to smooth ASI secretion thus the babies get the sufficiently ASI for their growth and development.
